Top 10 OPM artists & bands you should try listening to!




Who is your favorite music artist? I bet you are thinking of a foreign musician. Well why not try having a bias of our countryman's original music? There are a lot of Original Filipino Music writer/ composer and singer of this generation and they gave different styles, genre and unique attributes.

We compiled some Filipino music artists and try to hear their music you might found the taste of music you like in their songs. 


1. IV of Spades 




The first in our list is the band IV of Spades. the band was formed in 2014. The original band line up consisted of Unique Salonga on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Zildjian Benitez on backing vocals and bass guitar, Blaster Silonga on lead guitar, and Badjao De Castro on drums. Salonga served as the band's lead vocalist and rhythm until 2018 . The band has unique 1970's inspired outfit which made them famous. The band's popular music are Hey Barbara and "Mundo".

2. Unique Salonga




The second on our list is the former vocalist of the group IV of Spades and now he pursued his solo career. His songs includes Midnight Sky and Jules which is not yet officially released but garnered million views on YouTube.

3. Ben and Ben 




Third on our list is the band Ben and Ben .The band consists of brothers Paolo and Miguel Guico on acoustic guitars and vocals, Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Jam Villanueva on drums , Agnes Reoma on bass, Pat Lasaten on keyboards, Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano on percussions and Keifer Cabugao on violin. The band has been known for their popular hits such as "Kathang Isip" and "Maybe the Night".

4. December Avenue




If you are the type of sentimental well here's the band for you , December Avenue.The band members consists of Zel Bautista, Jem Manuel, Don Gregorio, Jet Danao, Gelo Cruz, they are popular for their songs , Sa Ngalan ng Pagibig , Kung hindi Rin Lan Ikaw and Kahit Di Mo Alam.

5. The Juans




Once upon a time, they were just five individuals dreaming to get a break in showbiz. Today, they are getting more and more recognized for their arresting musicality matched with their boy-next-door charm. All together, Carl Guevarra (vocals/keyboard), Japs Mendoza (vocalist/guitar), Jiad Arroyo (guitar/backup vocals), Jason De Mesa (bass/backup vocals), and Daniel Grospe (drums/vocals) have come closer to achieving their dream as the pop band, THE JUANS. They are popularly known for their songs Nasayang Lang and Balisong 

6. QUEST



Heard the song of team Gilas Pilipinas which is "Sige Lang' well the singer , rapper Jose Villanueva III is the singer of that popular song he is better known as Quest . He is also a hip-hop annd R&B singer where he won "Best Urban Music Video for 2010" at the Myx Awards philippines for first single "Back to Love"

7. I Belong to Zoo




Well Filipinos are much more to sentimental music and here's also one for you. I Belong to the Zoo is the solo folk project of Tonight We Sleep’s Argee Guerrero. It embodies Guerrero’s more private musings, with songs characterized by hushed vocals and wistful verses. His songs are resonant of intimate experiences, inhabiting subtle acoustic melodies in the same terrain as the music of Keaton Henson, William Fitzsimmons, Damien Rice, and Dallas Green. His song "Sana" has now over 7,000,000 views on YouTube.

8. KEIKO




Keiko Necesario is a country/folk /jazz/acoustic/pop singer song writer and social media ambassador she is Influenced by Taylor Swift's honesty and wit, Daughter's serenity, Nat King Cole's vibe, Joan Jett's rebellion, and Barbie Almalbis' melodies. Her songs includes "Wish" the official soundtrack of Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi and Let Me Be the One cover for the movie Nakalimutan ko na ang Kalimutan ka.

9. AGSUNTA



Agsunta is known for their best covers and they have the best and unique OPM covers. They do collaborations with some artists like John Roa and Ashley Gosengfiao. 

10. John Roa




Haters gonna hate but this guy really has a voice and talent . John Roa is a former member of the popular band Ex-Battallion and now he is performing on solo. His popular songs includes "Di ako Fuckboy" which started only as a jamming session with his barkadas and become a hit  when he created a studio recording for the song. His popular songs also includes "Oks Lang ako" , "Baliw Sayo" and "Taguan" which has over 32M views on YouTube.
